Lemon Dill Baked Salmon

Tender oven-baked salmon with fresh dill and lemon slices.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 2 tbsp chopped dill
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel — this helps the skin crisp up and the seasoning stick.
  3. Place the fillets skin-side down on the baking sheet. Rub with olive oil, then season with minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Lay the lemon slices over the top of each fillet and scatter the fresh dill generously on top.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and the thickest part reads 145°F (63°C) on an instant-read thermometer.
  6. Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes before serving. Squeeze any remaining lemon over the top for an extra pop of brightness.

Tips

  • Take the salmon out of the fridge 15 minutes before cooking — bringing it closer to room temperature helps it cook more evenly.
  • If your fillets are thinner (under 1 inch), check at 10 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  • This pairs beautifully with lemon parsley bulgur or roasted vegetables on the side.
  • Leftover salmon flakes well into salads or grain bowls the next day.
